The Literature of Gary Green

Gary Green's latest literary projects revolve around his involvement in the Casino Gaming industry. He is currently finishing work on two books in that genre:

bulletThe first players' guide to how to beat casinos...ever written by a casino boss. The inside tips and secrets of beating the house from the guy that runs the house. Filled with real insider facts as well as color antics from the "back of the house" in the casino world.
bullet

A book about the explosion in the number of Indian Casinos across America, examining:  where they came from; how the operate;  who runs them; the fairness of them for gamblers; what happens to the profits; how they are like (and different) from Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and other casinos.

As of late 2005 and early 2006 both of these projects are in the hand's of Gary's literary agent and are in the process of being sold to publishers. Excerpts from these chapters will not be available until the books are under contract or published.

Beyond these two current projects, a sampling of Gary Green's writings is a difficult thing to compile, partly because he has been so prolific but more because there is such a variety of content. For this sampler we chose representational pieces of non-fiction, of fiction, and of his poetry. Keep following the maze of links to read some of his work. In earlier versions of this web site we included long excerpted chapters and in some cases entire books. This is no longer the case; we are now including short excerpts and "teasers" of his work.

Non-Fiction

Gary's first published works were non-fiction. Beginning as a newspaper journalist in the early 1970s he amassed more than 1,000 by-lines before he was 30. His work spreads from Pulitzer-nominated newspaper stories to a best-selling travel guide to a detailed look at Internet Commerce to an outline for casino management. Pay No Attention To The Man Behind The Curtain (Navigating the Information Yellow Brick Superhighway) a professional analysis of the best practices for e-business at the dawn of the 21st century.

bulletGary Green's Nine Postulates of Propaganda  from How To Mold The Minds Of Men (and Women), Gary's detailed propaganda how-to. This booklet has been the subject of much controversy and has even been cited in court cases as an authoritative guide to misspeak, deception, and misinformation. It is none of those, but is an outline of what to look for when when someone is trying to sell to you.
bulletWhere "IT" Is At a pop philosophy answer to a generation's search for the "Age Of Aquarius"  including Gary's widely-read Tales Of The Flying Chicken, (a stranger than fiction short story/essay).

Fiction

After reading samples from a couple of Gary's novels and short stories, one editor commented "so this is what would happen if Dashel Hammit met Jack Kerouac on an acid trip."  We are not sure what that meant, or even if it was a compliment, but the selections presented here are among the ones reviewed by that critic. One thing about Gary's fiction is that it is so close to autobiographical that it is difficult to tell where the fiction begins.

Avignon  The absolute quintessential sample of Gary Green's writing is this second stranger than fiction short story/essay from the real-life swashbuckling of Gary Green. fictionalized with Gary's trademark allegory.

Euclid's Fifth  Three selected Chapters from Gary's great American novel.

Poetry

For many singer/songwriters there is a very thin line between their lyrics and their poetry. And while that is true in part for Gary Green too, he has also written powerful stand-alone poetry ranging from his epic Poets Prophets, Writers, And Musicians to contemporary "alternative" poetry. Here we present those selections. CLICK HERE>>
